“[The show’s writers] shared a behind-the-scenes picture and stated they constructed giant components of the Upside Down set utilizing pool noodles, bubble wrap, and the like,” Lie tells POPSUGAR. “A pal of mine had simply moved and had a bunch of leftover plastic and bubble wrap, so I assumed, ‘Wait, I may flip this right into a gown.'”

To get began, Lie constructed the bodice out of a thermoplastic modeling materials known as Worbla. She then used numerous plastic sheets, bubble wrap, wire, and copious quantities of sizzling glue to create the “vines” operating alongside the skirt of the robe.

“Portray the gown was positively probably the most tough and most annoying half, just because the gown is so large,” she says, including that she used acrylic paint and wooden glue to show the robe its shades of rusty crimson, plum, and magenta. “I could not use any spray paint, so I needed to paint all of it by hand utilizing solely brushes.”
